ABOUT PRAKASH PANTHA

Prakash Pantha is a prominent Nepali politician, policy expert, and youth leader committed to strengthening democracy, human rights, and inclusive governance. A Central Member and leading figure of the Nepali Congress Party - Nepal’s oldest and largest democratic force - he continues to drive impactful political and policy reforms.

He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Federalism & Localization Centre (FLC), a think tank dedicated to advancing federalism, inclusive governance, and intergovernmental coordination in Nepal through research, policy dialogue, and capacity development.

Pantha served as a Member of the National Assembly, Federal Parliament of Nepal, from 2018 to 2024, during which he chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Sustainable Development and Good Governance. He played a pivotal role in advancing federalism and spearheaded the passage of a landmark parliamentary resolution on disability rights, unanimously endorsed by Parliament and enforced by the Government of Nepal - marking a historic achievement for the country’s inclusion movement.

Living with a disability, Pantha has devoted his life to advocacy, policymaking, and grassroots empowerment. As the former Central President of the National Democratic Disabled Association, he led major initiatives to promote social justice, inclusion, and civic participation across Nepal.

Educated in Sociology, Economics, Law, and Development & Governance, Pantha combines academic rigor with hands-on policymaking experience. He has authored over two dozen articles on federalism, disability rights, and constitutional affairs, and has represented Nepal in international forums across Rwanda, Egypt, Sri Lanka, United States, Bangladesh, Philippines, Singapore, Qatar, Switzerland and Japan.

A dynamic leader at the intersection of politics, policy, and social justice, Prakash Pantha continues to shape Nepal’s democratic future through inclusive, rights-based approaches.
